About Steve

2017 was a breakthrough year for HEA: thanks to Lisa's efforts we finally have a way to get paid!
As COO Steve spent a lot of time at his desk working on contracts, bookkeeping, partners,
and most importantly ensuring our web services kept working well and improving.

Steve was also asked to join the board of a new local CCA (Community Choice Aggregator)
now providing carbon free electricity to 300,000 customers in Silicon Valley.
This is an amazing advance, and Steve is thrilled to be involved.

While away from his desk, Steve continued exploring low-carbon activities like...

Promoting local energy efficiency with Ben

Explaining the latest fad: Beneficial Electrification!

Driving the bus up the California coast

Leisure travel by train

With knitting club friends Roy and Tim at Zotts

With Craig & Harvey... also at Zotts

Mountain biking in Arroya Seca on his 29er

Hiking, with a dead vole

Napping after yard work

Fixing bikes with Eric & Justine

Digging tunnel to the car with Tim at Kirkwood

...we made it! (So much snow!)

Biking with the DIPS running (?) crowd

Celebrating after a big carbon-reduction win
with the board of a local non-profit

Fording a very cold river near MTR

Day hiking in the Sierras from MTR

Golfing in deep snow with Marty

Atop Whistler Mountain in a cold lake
Biking buddy in Death Valley

After a 5,000 foot climb from Death Valley to Dante's View with Pierre

In June Steve tried a week-long meditation retreat at Spirit Rock, with friends Tim & Ali.
Rules: no talking, no eye-contact, and daily meditations from 6am to 10pm.
Lacking the so-called "mental chatter of the monkey brain", meditation came easy to Steve.

The best part was the food: delicious & mindfully eaten!
The experience was fun to try, but another "one and done" for Steve.
