About Eric

Eric spent 2017 living and working in two locations: Silicon Valley and Nairobi.
Extremely different locations by many different measures!

He spent five months in Kenya helping non-profit KickStart with their pedal- and solar-powered
irrigation pumps, while also exploring the region by car, foot, bike, bus, train and boat.

Now he's back doing mechanical engineering stuff on Waymo's driverless cars,
and lives in a big 4 story home in San Francisco with about 10 good friends.

So where to next?

Eric really enjoyed his respite from Silicon Valley and getting to know Africa.
In October, after more than two years in the application process, he was accepted for a future
deployment maintaining facilities & equipment at the global non-profit Doctors Without Borders.
This may happen in 2018, but there won't be much notice and he has no idea where he'd be sent.

Lots of biking while in Africa. This was a ride
near Arusha in Tanzania, with some new friends.

Also got to participate in a couple
road bike races in Kenya

Before heading to Kenya Eric created this zero-emissions hybrid Suzuki, named Taylor Swift.
(When they said "bike to work day" perhaps they didn't mean with a car?)

In January Eric and a Google friend biked 250 miles non-stop from work to Northstar Lake Tahoe.

(This was on Highway 80, after a CHP escort)
And Steve is quite jealous that Eric already
found a tandem buddy

Poor kid, nothing fun to do at all. Maybe he'll finally get to visit Disneyland in 2018.
